Valve

A brake valve for a truck regulates the air supply or air pressure in the braking system. There are various types, such as a service brake valve, a parking brake valve, and an EBS modulator. Each component has its own function and must be compatible with the vehicle.

At Philevi Truckparts, you’ll find, among other things, valves and EBS modulators for DAF, Iveco, Mercedes, Renault , and Volvo, as well as parts from WABCO. These parts are part of the braking system. Compare the part number and model before making your selection.

What does a brake valve do?

A brake valve controls the flow of air in the brake system. Its operation depends on the type. A foot brake valve transmits the braking command from the pedal. A parking brake valve is used to operate the parking brake.

An EBS modulator controls brake pressure based on electronic signals. EBS stands for Electronic Brake System. A solenoid valve opens or closes an air passage in response to an electrical signal. These components have different functions and are not simply interchangeable.

Why is a brake valve important?

The brakes must respond at the right moment. A properly functioning valve helps regulate the air and brake pressure correctly.

A leak or malfunction can disrupt operation. However, a warning on the dashboard does not always mean that the valve is defective. Pipes, connectors, and other components of the air system may also be involved. Therefore, have the cause checked first.

What should you look for when making your choice?

Check the original part number, also known as the OEM number. Also, compare the brand, vehicle type, and function of the part. For example, a foot brake valve is different from a parking brake valve.

Also check the air connections, mounting points, and any electrical plugs. For an EBS modulator, the model must be compatible with the truck’s electronic braking system. A similar shape alone is not enough to determine whether a part will fit.

Applications in Maintenance and Repair

During maintenance, have the connections checked for leaks and damage. If there is a malfunction in the electronic braking system, a repair shop can read the error codes.

Have the replacement performed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Depending on the part, an adjustment or inspection using diagnostic equipment may also be necessary. Have the brake system tested after the work is completed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if a part will fit?

Compare the OEM number on your old part with the number listed for the product. If you're unsure, send us a photo or the VIN via WhatsApp, and we'll check it for you.

"New" comes directly from the manufacturer and includes a manufacturer's warranty. "Refurbished" has been rebuilt and is more affordable than "new." "Used" has been removed from a truck and is the most affordable option.
